How to have a custom PDA by modifying the PDA mod by Bluebaby210

The image dimensions are as follows: Outer PDA (PDA/Phone): 1024×512 [W x H] sensation.dds, One.dds, OneOld.dds Inner PDA Screens: 512×256 [W x H] - background1.dds - background6.dds PDA HUD: 512×32 [W x H] - backgroundHUD.dds Battery Status: 16×16 - Batterie.dds, BatterieO.dds LEDs 64×64 - diodeGruen.dds, diodeOrange.dds, diodeRot.dds Contract Signature 256×64 - Unterschrift.dds Contract(s) 1024×2048 - Vertrag_de.dds, Vertrag_en.dds

1 Install the image program and related DDS plugin of your choice

2 Download the mod from the link above and extract to desktop

3 Open the PDA_Design folder that should now be on your desktop

4a Photoshop. Start Photoshop and go to File → Open

4b Photoshop. Drag the desired DDS file from the open PDA_Design folder or go via File → Open

4c Photoshop. When prompted select “Load Using Default Sizes

4a GIMP. Start GIMP and go to File → Open

4b GIMP. Drag the desired DDS file from the open PDA_Design folder or go via File → Open

4c GIMP. When prompted select “Load Using Default Sizes - THIS HAS NOT BEEN TESTED IN GIMP

5 Make your desired changes ensuring that the background layer is hidden (invisible/transparent background)

6 Save your image - File → Save As → Select Filetype as .dds, enter the desired filename and click OK

7 When prompted, select “DXT5 ARB 8bpp interpolated.alpha” from the dropdown, leave everything else.

8 Click Save

9 Browse to the installed mod (\my games\farmingsimulator2013\mods\zzz_NewPDA_Design.zip\PDA_Design)

10 Overwrite files in the ZIP with your changed files

11 Fire up Farming Simulator, buy your new PDA and Enjoy!

1 Install the image program and related DDS plugin of your choice

3 Open the PDA_Design folder that should now be on your desktop

4a - Photoshop. Start Photoshop and go to File → New

4b - Photoshop. In dimensions, use the dimensions above, depending on which image you are creating.

4c - Photoshop. Note: Ensure Background is set to transparent

4a - GIMP. Start GIMP and go to File → New

4b - GIMP. In dimensions, use the dimensions above, depending on which image you are creating.

4c - GIMP. Note: Ensure Background is set to transparent

5 Make your desired changes ensuring that the background layer is hidden (invisible/transparent background)

6 Save your image - File → Save As → Select Filetype as .dds, enter the desired filename and click OK, Ensure you are in the zzz_NewPDA_Design.zip\PDA_Design before saving

7 When prompted, select “DXT5 ARB 8bpp interpolated.alpha” from the dropdown, leave everything else.

8 Click Save

9 Browse to the installed mod (\my games\farmingsimulator2013\mods\zzz_NewPDA_Design.zip\PDA_Design)

10 In the PDA_Design folder on your desktop, open the PDA_Design.lua file in Notepad

11.1a - Changing the Outer PDA Skin Find line 35 with the following text

self.pdaDesign = createImageOverlay(PDAdesign_directory.."PDA_Design/Sensation.dds");

11.1b - Changing the Outer PDA Skin Change Sensation.dds to that of your file. 11.1c - Changing the Outer PDA Skin Go to File → Save

11.2a - Changing the Inner PDA Background Find line 19 with the following text

self.pdaBackground = createImageOverlay(PDAdesign_directory.."PDA_Design/background1.dds");

11.2b - Changing the PDA Backgrounds Change background1.dds to that of your file. 11.2c - Changing the PDA Backgrounds Go to File → Save

12Update the files in the ZIP with your new files 13 Fire up Farming Simulator, buy your new PDA and Enjoy!

Credits for the original mod go to Bluebaby210, whilst the mod has not been changed and distributed, this does give detail how to change the original mod, if the site staff feel this breaches the mod authors copyright, please remove this tutorial as the mod author has not been consulted prior to this tutorial.
