+
 +What is a terrain texture?
+It's the dirt, sand, rock, cobblestone etc. textures that you place within the Giants editor.
 +
+For this tutorial I will be using robbie's 'my blank starter map'

+But this tutorial will work on any FS15 map

+Last the files for your chosen new terrain texture
 +
+[u][b]Adding your new terrain texture files[/b][/u]
 +
+For this tutorial I will just be using a copy of the default rock texture that I have renamed 'newterrain[/color]'
 +
+First you need to install & add the new terrain texture files into your maps folder.
 +
+There are four files that are needed for each new terrain texture.
 +
+These are to installed in the following folders.
 +
 +...\mods\map\map\map01\newterrain[/color]_weight.png
 +
 +...\mods\map\map\textures\terrain\newterrain[/color]_diffuse.dds
 +
 +...\mods\map\map\textures\terrain\newterrain[/color]_distance_diffuse
 +
 +...\mods\map\map\textures\terrain\newterrain[/color]_normal.dds
 +
+[u][b]Adding the new code to the i3d file[/b][/u]
 +
+Using notepad++ open up your map 'map01'i3D file
 +
+Just copy and paste the below code but renaming the text in red[/color] to match the name of your new terrain files.
 +
 +Under [b]<Files>[/b] add
 +
 +
<File fileId="1000" filename="map01/newterrain[/color]_weight.png" relativePath="true"/>
 +<File fileId="1001" filename="textures/terrain/newterrain[/color]_diffuse.png" relativePath="true"/>
 +<File fileId="1002" filename="textures/terrain/newterrain[/color]_distance_diffuse.png" relativePath="true"/>
 +<File fileId="1003" filename="textures/terrain/newterrain[/color]_normal.png" relativePath="true"/>[/quote]
 +
 +under [b]<Scene>[/b] then [b]<Layers>[/b] add
 +
 +
<Layer name="newterrain[/color]" detailMapId="1001" normalMapId="1003" unitSize="16" weightMapId="1000" distanceMapId="1002" distanceMapUnitSize="128" attributes="0.157 0.153 0.149 0" priority="5"/>[/quote]
 +
 +under [b]<Scene>[/b] then [b]<Layers>[/b] then [b]<LayerPair[/b] add
 +
 +
<LayerPair base="newterrain[/color]" top="dirt" depthScale="0.4" sharpness="1"/>
 +<LayerPair base="newterrain[/color]" top="grass" depthScale="0.8" sharpness="3"/>[/quote]
 +
+Now load up your map in the Giants editor and your new texture will be in the drop down list and can be displayed.
 +
+It is important that you place some of your new texture down and the save the map then exit the editor, also do this before adding anymore new textures.
 +
+To add more textures just repeat the above.
